My Books

In this section, you can find direct links to my e-books (and some paperbacks), which will offer complete descriptions, samples, and downloads for each respective title. The Universal Buy Links (UBL) will take you to a retailer hub where you can purchase from your preferred (region specific) store. Be aware that not all books are yet connected through the UBL system.

Please note that I am going through a rebranding process as of this writing. What that means is I am currently revising or rewriting certain titles from scratch. Any title that has gone through the rebranding process is, in my opinion, ready for consumption. Those still on the to-be-updated list are still available nonetheless, but you may want to consider waiting until they’re updated before buying or downloading them. If they’re going through the rebranding process, it’s because I no longer think they’re viable for reading. But you can be the judge of that if you want. I still appreciate all comments, even for the books I plan to update. You can leave your opinions or feedback in the comments at the bottom of each book’s product page.

Status Key:

To better understand the current condition of each title, I’ve assembled a status key for your convenience.

Final: No more updates planned beyond fixing newly discovered typos or changing front or back matter. Will go to most well-known retailers. Ready to buy or download.

Updated: Fixed to the current rebranding effort I’m making toward all of my books, but future updates may still happen if new ideas arise. Will go to most well-known retailers. Ready to buy or download.

Updated (Final in this Form): No more updates planned for this version of the book, but a longer, novella or novel-sized retelling of the story is either planned or under consideration for future development. Will go to most well-known retailers. Ready to buy or download.

Expansion: Longer-form version of a short story or novella that’s still available for download. Will go to most well-known retailers. Ready to buy or download.

Replacement: Either a rebranded version or drastically revised version of a previously published title that may or may not still be available. Will go to most well-known retailers. Ready to buy or download.

To Be Updated: Current version has a planned update for the near future. This update will reflect branding changes or modernization, not necessarily content fixes.

To Be Revised: Current version needs work but won’t need a drastic overhaul. Will resemble its current self after the rebranding process is complete. Buy or download only if you really want it now.

To Be Rewritten: Current version is unsatisfactory and needs a do-over. Don’t buy or download.

To Be Replaced: Current version will get not only a revision or a rewrite, but it will get a new title, too. Buy or download only if you really want this version.

To Be Expanded: Current version is a short story or novella that needs more content to work beyond just a theme.

[Status]-in-Progress: The work to update title is already underway. Don’t buy or download until the rework is complete.

Replaced: Current version has already been replaced with a newer updated title. May be removed from Amazon to prevent confusion. Buy or download only if you really want this version.

Not Updated: Book needs an update, but I haven’t decided yet what type of update it needs.

Unsupported: Book is no longer getting updates of any kind. Buy or download if you don’t mind reading outdated content.

In-Development: Unreleased but under construction.

Planned: Still in the concept stage.

Unpublished: Exists but not ready for publication.

A Call for Beta Readers:

Writers need readers. I need readers. Most of my existing published stories have gone live without proper feedback, and most of my reader reviews are beginning to reflect this (according to the unattributed star ratings). If you like the genres I write in and you like my style or voice, then please leave a comment below expressing your interest in beta reading. We’ll go from there. And thanks for your interest.

Titles Listed in Online Publication Order:

Note: All publication dates prior to 2015 refer to original entries in one of my three paperback collections from 2004-2006.

Shell Out (link)

Publication Years: 2006, 2015-2020
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Satire
Type: Short Story
Price: Free at most retailers
Format: E-book only
Status: Updated (Final in this Form)
Comments: This is one of my personal favorites. It may get a novella or novel-sized update between now and 2023. I already have the first chapter written toward that longer-form update. The longer version will be a retelling, not a replacement, so it’s perfectly acceptable to read this version now if you want.

Eleven Miles from Home (link)

Publication Years: 2006, 2015-2020
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Drama
Type: Short Story
Price: Free at most retailers
Format: E-book only
Status: Final
Comments: Has a standard and “remastered” edition available. Written in narrative essay format. The Remastered Edition tells the story in shorter, interwoven bursts. This story will receive no more updates beyond newly discovered typos or back matter changes.

Amusement (link)

Publication Years: 2005, 2015-2019
Top Genres: Fiction, Psychological Thriller, Satire
Type: Short Story
Price: Free at most retailers
Format: E-book only
Status: Updated (Final in this Form)
Comments: This is my other favorite. It will likely get a novel-sized update between now and 2025. I already have 10,000 unpublished words toward that longer-form update. Like the Shell Out rewrite, the longer form version of Amusement, to be called I Am Not Amused, will retell the current story, not replace it, so it’s perfectly acceptable to read this version now if you want.

When Cellphones Go Crazy (link)

Publication Years: 2006, 2015
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Satire
Type: Short Story
Price: Free at most retailers
Format: E-book only
Status: Replaced, Unsupported
Comments: This story has been replaced by When Cellphones Make Us Crazy and is no longer supported. I don’t recommend getting this book. I will most likely unpublish it from most retailers once my rebranding efforts are finished. But it will remain on Smashwords and Barnes & Noble for those who like to collect older, terrible stories.

The Celebration of Johnny’s Yellow Rubber Ducky (link)

Publication Years: 2006, 2015
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Adventure
Type: Short Story
Price: Free at most retailers
Format: E-book only
Status: To Be Expanded, Expansion-in-Progress
Comments: I’m expanding this story into a long novella or short novel. I expect to have it updated by Summer 2021. I already have over 15,000 unpublished words toward that longer-form update. I don’t know yet if it will replace the current short story or simply retell it. It will, at the very least, add a new opening and closing act to provide better context to the existing story.

Lightstorm (link)

Publication Years: 2005, 2015-2019
Top Genres: Fiction, Adventure, Competition
Type: Novella
Price: $0.99
Format: E-book only
Status: Final
Comments: This story is complete as written and will likely receive no additional updates (beyond newly discovered typos or back matter changes), but I may write a longer-form sequel or, more accurately, make this the official prequel to a novel-sized superhero story in the near future. Let me know if you want to see this sequel.

The Computer Nerd (link)

Publication Year: 2015
Top Genres: Fiction, Suspense, Psychological Thriller
Type: Novel
Price: $3.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: To Be Replaced, Unsupported, Replacement in-Progress
Comments: This story will be replaced by Gone from the Happy Place whenever I finish integrating the new material. Of course, it’s okay if you still buy this version, but the next version will be much better, so it’s up to you. It has just one negative review at the moment, so you might enjoy it as is. But if you’d rather wait for Gone from the Happy Place, then that would be better. If you do read this version, be sure to read past the back matter for a surprise second ending (okay, it’s no longer a surprise). Gone from the Happy Place should be ready sometime in 2021.

Cards in the Cloak (link)

Publication Years: 2005, 2015-2017
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Adventure
Type: Novella
Price: $2.99
Format: E-book only
Status: To Be Expanded, Expansion-in-Progress
Comments: The current version is fine as is and certainly readable, but I’m not particularly happy with its story arc or its ending, so I’m giving it one more ultimate makeover that will likely double its size and solidify its theme. The end result will probably polarize readers, as I intend to ape A Christmas Carol somewhat, which may turn off some readers, but it’ll be truer to the spirit of what the story needs to be, so I’m going to press on and fix its direction, even if it changes the ending. I have one new chapter already written. More will come soon. I expect to have it updated by 2021. That said, the current version is perfectly readable if you’d rather read it in its shorter state.

The Fountain of Truth (link)

Publication Years: 2005, 2015-2018
Top Genres: Fiction, Christmas, Fables
Type: Short Story Collection
Price: Free at most retailers (Soon to be $0.99 after next update)
Format: E-book only
Status: To Be Updated, To Be Expanded
Comments: The current version is fine and worth reading, especially during the holidays. That said, I will be integrating these stories into a larger narrative called The McCray Parables sometime before Christmas 2020, thanks in part to how Snow in Miami has developed. Whether I leave this version active after The McCray Parables releases remains to be seen. Probably not on Amazon, but most other places will likely keep the current version. This title will officially become Book One of The McCray Parables once I finish updating it with the new brand content.

Cannonball City: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year One (link)

Publication Year: 2015
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Superhero Adventure
Type: Epic Novel
Price: $7.99
Format: E-book only
Status: To Be Updated, To Be Replaced, Unsupported
Comments: This book has been a labor of love since Christmas 2007 and has gone through many updates and received three epic-sized sequels throughout the course of eight years (the third sequel is still unfinished, and the fourth has just one chapter written so far). But, it’s just too long for most readers, so I’ve made the decision to put it back on the production table and split the story down into three separate novels. I’ll be doing the same for its published sequel, Superheroes Anonymous: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year Two, and its still-unpublished second and third follow-ups. I don’t have an estimated time of arrival for the new Book One, to be called Fallen Stars, but I won’t release any updates until I have the first three or four years fully split and edited and ready for release (and I may even wait until the fifth year is finished since that’s the major turning point in the series). Because the word counts for each annual edition is 264,000 words; 203,000 words; over 400,000 words; and over 300,000 words respectively, expect it to take me awhile to release any of these updates.

Zippywings 2015: A Short Story Collection (link)

Publication Year: 2015
Top Genres: Fiction, Short Stories
Type: Story Collection
Price: $6.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Unsupported
Comments: This collection of short stories was put together strictly for the paperback edition, but I released an e-book version for consistency. Because it’s been curated for only the content that I released in 2015, I’ve left it in the time capsule, mistakes and all. Anyway, if you buy it, you’ll be the first.

Gutter Child (link)

Publication Years: 2004, 2016-2018
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Satire
Type: Novella
Price: $1.99
Format: E-book only
Status: Updated (Final in this Form)
Comments: This version of Gutter Child is finalized, so it’s fine to buy it whenever you want. However, I may integrate the current story into a longer form thriller as a subplot by 2023, so keep an eye on that. If I do, the new story, which will replace this one, will be called Sun Underwater, and will spend time following Jimmy’s dad on a murder mystery (he’s a police chief). For now, though, my plans to upgrade it are still under review.

The Fallen Footwear (link)

Publication Years: 2004, 2016
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Romantic Comedy
Type: Short Story
Price: Free at most retailers (Soon to be $2.99 after update)
Format: E-book only
Status: To be Rewritten, To Be Expanded, Rewrite-in-Progress
Comments: I hate this story. I don’t know why I released it when I did. I’m currently back at the drawing board, re-conceptualizing what this story should be, hoping to release a much better, novella or novel-sized version this summer (2020). As of this writing, I have close to 5,000 words toward the update, plus the scenes I intend to keep from the original version. It’s my primary story focus right now, so I should have it done sooner than later. But I do not recommend the current version. It’s probably my worst published story. Hopefully that won’t be true after the next update.

Waterfall Junction and The Narrow Bridge (link)

Publication Years: 2006, 2016
Top Genres: Fiction, Fantasy, Christian
Type: Short Story Duology
Price: Free at most retailers
Format: E-book only
Status: Final
Comments: This is a quick read for those who like allegorical fiction. It contains “Waterfall Junction,” a short story that has a medieval echo to the story of Abraham and Isaac (from Genesis 22), and “The Narrow Bridge,” which is an allegory of man’s journey through trials and tribulations, and the futility of his attempt to save himself from destruction. I have no plans to update either story any further, so now is the perfect time to read them.

Superheroes Anonymous: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year Two (link)

Publication Year: 2016
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Superhero Adventure
Type: Epic Novel, Sequel
Price: $7.99
Format: E-book only
Status: To Be Updated, To Be Replaced, Unsupported
Comments: See my comments for Cannonball City: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year One. The good news is that this story will be much easier to adapt to the new format than the first book, as the current story is already in the shape I want. I just need to split it down the middle and make adjustments to anything that falls out of place.

When Cellphones Make Us Crazy (link)

Publication Year: 2017
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Satire
Type: Novella
Price: $0.99
Format: E-book only
Status: Final, Expansion, Replacement
Comments: This is the replacement to When Cellphones Go Crazy. This version does a better job developing each character and theme that the former story merely introduced. It’s currently my third favorite behind Shell Out and Amusement.

Future Titles Planned, In-Progress, or Waiting for Publication:

This section is the list of books I’m either currently working on or conceptualizing in some form.

Snow in Miami: The McCray Parables (Book 2)

Publication Year: 2020 (or 2021)
Top Genres: Fiction, Christmas, Fables
Type: Hybrid: Novel, Short Story Collection
Price: $0.99
Format: E-book only (Paperback possible)
Status: Unpublished, Revision-in-Progress
Comments: I don’t know if I’ll be releasing this in 2020 or 2021 (depends on how long it takes me to revise both this and The Fountain of Truth: The McCray Parables (Book 1)), but the hard work is already finished. I need to finish researching for a few character-development scenes in the third parable, add a new beginning to make Douglas McCray’s inciting incident clearer, and sweep through the entire book for any other pressing needs. Otherwise, the book is finished and should be ready for the holidays.

Gone from the Happy Place

Publication Year: 2021 (most likely)
Top Genres: Fiction, Suspense, Psychological Thriller
Type: Novel
Price: $4.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: This story will replace The Computer Nerd with stronger conventions and deeper character development. I don’t really have much else to write to get this story up-to-par, but my main goal is to introduce a fourth essential character and to develop more life-and-death stakes through this character. I’ve also written a new 12,000-word opening sequence to provide a stronger hook, setup, and inciting incident, but I don’t know yet if I want to use all of it in the novel or if I want to publish it as a side story. I’ll want feedback before I finalize it. Leave me a comment if you’d like to be a beta reader for this story (or any story I write).

Note: Everything past this point is unknown. I plan to release all of these titles at some point. I have no idea when. The release order is also unknown, but this is the likeliest order (for at least the first three books). For the books that have minimal descriptions, I’ll explain them in greater detail as I get closer to writing them.

Sweat of the Nomad

Publication Years: 2004, Update Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Adventure
Type: Novel
Price: $4.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: Based on a short story I wrote in 1995 and updated into a novella in 2004, the first solo outing for Sweat of the Nomad (as opposed to being part of a collection) will novelize Jamie’s odyssey through a burning city on the hottest day of the year as he tries to get back to his wife and free his home of interlopers. It’s a modern retelling of The Odyssey (minus the sea monsters) and will likely get a title change to Odyssey of the Nomad before it’s finalized. Be sure to tell me which title you prefer. I currently have three different sections complete, but I haven’t figured out how to integrate them just yet. I’ll likely have it ready for publication in late 2021 or early 2022. Part of the “old school rewrite” group that all the above stories, except for The Computer Nerd and Cannonball City, belong to.

Teenage American Dream

Publication Years: 2006, Update Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Coming of Age, Con Story
Type: Novel
Price: $3.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: Based on a short story I wrote in 2003 and revised for a paperback collection in 2006, this version will put Eric Bachner, teenage slacker and dreamer, into a much larger tale of betrayal, desire, and revenge in a battle against those who threaten to steal his home, steal his best friend’s videogame, and make him “join the real world” like some adult punk. Most of the work on this story is finished. I just have to get through the third act. However, I’ve been at this point since 2016, so what I really have to do is to review and rewrite parts of the earlier story to bring the actual story back into focus. Work on this story should go much faster once I cut out some early fat and develop a clearer idea how to navigate the plot while keeping each scene fresh, instead of retreading the same jokes, as the current version does. I could feasibly have this finished and ready by Summer 2022. Maybe earlier. Part of the “old school rewrite” group.

Zipwood Studios

Publication Years: 2005, Update Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Science Fiction
Type: Novel
Price: $4.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: Based on a short story I wrote in 2000 and updated in 2005 for a paperback collection, this version will expand the custodial adventures of Robert (former A-lister) and his protégé, Ian, as they scour the halls of Zipwood Studios for answers to the question of why things have suddenly gotten so odd and so scary around here. Even though I’ll be retaining the same themes and ideas from the original story, I’ll likely rewrite each scene from scratch to create a new look and feel for the main characters and the studio itself. I’d originally intended to clean up the short story version back in 2016 and release it as part of the e-book blitz for that season, but I just couldn’t bring myself to shortchange the story in that way. It really deserves to go much bigger. So, it will. Probably in 2022. Part of the “old school rewrite” group.

Washed Up: A Pirate Adventure

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Adventure, Pirates
Type: Novel Series
Price: Unknown (Will be a starter for a three- to five-book series)
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: I wrote over 60,000 words of this story during NaNoWriMo 2019, and you can even see the first eight days of work on my YouTube channel. That said, I’ll be redoing much of what I’ve already written, and there’s a good chance that this might even become the second book of the series instead of the first, as I’d planned. I honestly don’t know what to say about this one yet. I’d like to have it completed and published by 2023 and have its sequels released no more than a year apart from each other. What I can say is that it’ll take place in the same universe as A Modern-day Fantasy (which itself may get a name change once I publish Fallen Stars), some 250 years earlier.

Pawn of Justice

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Superhero Adventure
Type: Novel Series
Price: $0.99 (Series Starter)
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: This will be the first modern prequel to A Modern-day Fantasy, and it will follow FBI Special Agents Joyce McKinley and Thomas Sturgeon as they discover the first signs of superhuman activity in the Los Angeles area. I’ve got the first three chapters written and a fourth unattached chapter ready somewhere in another folder. I don’t know when I’ll write the rest. The story is basically mapped out somewhere on my computer, but I have to find it. It will be the first of three prequels to Fallen Stars.

The Mysterious Woman down the Forbidden Alley in the City of Squandered Dreams

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Adventure
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: I wrote 34,000 words of this story for NaNoWriMo 2017, but as usual, my plans got away from me, and now I have to review and rethink its direction. I don’t know when I’ll get back to it. Probably not for a while. I don’t expect to finish it before 2023 or 2024. But the premise is that two slackers discover something dangerous underneath their city, and they have to stop it. The great derail here is that one of these two slackers has taken a path I wasn’t ready for. Now I have to adjust for it.

Panhandler Underground

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Crime Thriller, Satire
Type: Novel, Novel Series (Book 3)
Price: $4.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Unpublished
Comments: I wrote this novel back in 2005 and have made several revisions since, but I’ve never got the characters or setup quite right, so I have to make more changes before I can call it ready. Part of the problem is that it really needs a book or two to set it up, so it’ll likely become the third book of a series of seven (instead of the first of five, as I’d originally planned). I do want to get this out to the public in the near future, though, if I don’t try to get it traditionally published.

Botanical Rush

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Adventure
Type: Novel, Novel Series
Price: $4.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: I started this novel in 2007 as an update to a screenplay I wrote in the mid-90s, got about eleven chapters in, then forgot about it thanks to the exhaustive research I put into learning about Hawaii, which gave way to me prepping my thoughts for Cannonball City: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year One, which took over my life for the next five years. I’d still like to finish it at some point. I’d planned on making it the first in a trilogy, but at this point, I don’t know. The main character, Barry Sledge, is one of my favorites, so I’d like to get this one back off the ground sooner than later. I still remember everything I want for the story, so that’s good. That’s rare these days. I should probably finish it before I forget the rest of the story.

One Alone, One Forgotten

Publication Years: 2004, Update Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Mystery
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: This was the first short story I wrote at UCF (in 1998), and it really upped my descriptive game, but the story itself was pretty dull, and I’ve always believed I could do better. So this version will be my attempt to do better. I’ve got one scene already written, but much of the original story could probably make a fair port to the longer-form version and become interesting if integrated well with actual story, so we’ll see. I’ve updated it once for a paperback collection in 2004. This will be the next “old school rewrite” after Zipwood Studios.

My First Mullet

Publication Years: 2005, Update Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Short Stories, Poetry, Parody
Type: Hybrid: Short Stories, Poetry
Price: $2.99
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: This is a crazy one. The best way to describe this book is “everything mullets.” It began as a series of poems I wrote for a class in 2000, but it’s evolved into a parody of itself. I don’t know when I’ll finish it. I keep getting new ideas for it while leaving older ideas on the development floor. I hope to put a stop to it soon. I’d really like to get it released.

Shade of Blue

Publication Years: 2005, Update Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Romance
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: Another one from the “old school rewrite” group (circa 1999) with two distinct versions (the second called “Alternative Shade of Blue”), this update will integrate both versions of the story into a coming of age hybrid romantic thriller.

Uncomfortable

Publication Years: 2006, Update Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: The last of the “old school rewrite” group (circa 2005) not tied to The Wasteland of Hope or Rick Razorface: Detective for Hire, this update will take the original story’s existing ideas and expand upon them.

The Wasteland of Hope

Publication Years: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Apocalyptic
Type: Novel Series
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: This will be a five-part series that takes place in the desert, beginning with When One Falls (part of the “old school rewrite” group, circa 2002), The Wild Lovely, Tightfloss Maiden (based on an RPG I started making in 2001), Eve of Construction (part of the “old school rewrite” group, circa 1999), and The Desert of Despair.

Rick Razorface: Detective for Hire

Publication Years: 2004, Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Mystery
Type: Novel (or Novella) Series
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: Rick Razorface has been around since my high school days. I wrote my first Rick Razorface 16-page short story in 1995 (after a series of shorts for my 11th grade creative writing class three years earlier) and revised it for a paperback collection in 2004. My sixth screenplay was an attempt to adapt the first Rick Razorface story (not sure I ever finished it). I’ve started a second short story but never finished it. Rick Razorface has been one of the toughest characters for me to write. But I’m gonna crack this nut. Eventually. I’d like to write at least six episodes of the Rick Razorface story before calling it a day.

City Walker

Publication Years: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Adventure
Type: Novel Series
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: City Walker was the first long-form story I ever wrote (from 1989 to 1991). I’ve recently ported the handwritten manuscript to Microsoft Word, and I’m in the process of revising it for the first time (in 30 years!). The revised version will sooner see light of day on Drinking Café Latte at 1pm then it will on Amazon or any retailer. The rewritten-from-scratch version, however, will likely see publication on Amazon et al. whenever I finish it. I plan to make it a trilogy.

Alpha Red: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year Three

Publication Year: Canceled
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Superhero Adventure
Type: Epic Novel, Sequel
Price: none
Format: E-book only
Status: Unpublished, To Be Replaced
Comments: See my comments for Cannonball City: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year One. This story currently has two versions: a rushed first draft that could get cleaned up and pushed out onto Smashwords (I would’ve done that in 2017 if more people had bought Superheroes Anonymous), and an unfinished monster that’s already topping 400,000 words and definitely needs governmental intervention and regulation to get it under control. This story will be released if all goes well, but not in this monstrous form. I’ll have to split it into several books first and revise the crap out of it.

Hardcore Countrymen: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year Four

Publication Year: Canceled
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Superhero Adventure
Type: Epic Novel, Sequel
Price: none
Format: E-book only
Status: In-Development, To Be Replaced
Comments: See my comments for Cannonball City: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year One. Like Alpha Red, this story is a beast, but it’s also an unfinished beast with much of the third act still under construction. Hasn’t stopped me from clocking it in at over 300,000 words (estimated), though. If the other books had sold well, I would’ve had this out the door in 2018. But, alas, that did not happen, so now you get to wait for me to release all the others ahead of it, which will happen after I finish writing this one, and after I finish splitting and revising all of them.

Silent Metropolis: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year Five

Publication Year: Canceled
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Superhero Adventure
Type: Epic Novel, Sequel
Price: none
Format: E-book only
Status: In-Development, To Be Replaced
Comments: See my comments for Cannonball City: A Modern-day Fantasy, Year One. This is the only A Modern-day Fantasy title that isn’t the length of the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy, but that’s because I’ve written just one chapter for it (though the current outline is 2,400 words long). The thing with this series, though, is that once I get going, I burn through them quickly. Much of the series story is already in my head, so it’s just a matter of getting it to print. It shouldn’t be much longer before I get back to work on these.

(A Modern-day Fantasy has ten years planned, but years six through ten bring the story through a major shift, so I don’t want to talk about them just yet.)

Note: The next seven entries are all part of the same series, though unlike A Modern-day Fantasy, Washed Up, Pawn of Justice, and Panhandler Underground, these entries will not directly follow each other’s storyline.

In Times of Madness

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Fables
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: This will be the starter for a series of books where the world falls into social chaos. These books may or may not exist in the same universe as one another, but they will share one common character, Stanley Redding, who will serve as mentor in some stories, signpost in others, and will generally act as the sage for whichever protagonist occupies the current story. But each book in this series will not have any other obvious links, just Stanley Redding and the crazies.

Apples and Oranges

Publication Years: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Satire, Fables (Possibly Psychological Thriller)
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown (probably $2.99)
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: The basic sketch and first couple of chapters are complete. I know what I want from this story. I’ll likely fast-track it once my rebranding is finished. However, it’s supposed to be Book Two of a series that I have yet to start (In Times of Madness), so I don’t actually know when it’ll see the light of day. Not before Book One is released, obviously.

Hurricane Rick

Publication Years: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Fables
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: In-Development
Comments: I wrote 2,300 words of this story for NaNoWriMo 2018 (yeah, I suck) and basically burned out. But I know what I want from it, so I’ll restart it again someday. As of now, I’m planning on calling it Book Three of the In Times of Madness series. We’ll see what happens.

Nice and Legal

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Fables
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: This is a story I’ve had on my mind since the mid-2000s and wanted to write by 2010, but I’ve kept kicking it down the road, well past its point of prescience and into a time when its premise has all but already happened (at the time I thought of it, the idea was absurd). Anyway, it will be my entry for NaNoWriMo 2020 because I’ve got to get this thing done in spite of its shelf date expiring five years ago. It will likely be integrated into the In Times of Madness series as either Book Four or Five.

The Light Switch

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Fables
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: This is another book that’s been on my mind since the mid-2000s and another to make its appearance as an entry to In Times of Madness. It will probably be my NaNoWriMo 2021 entry. It’ll come either right before or right after Nice and Legal in the series.

Rewind

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Fables
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned, In-Development
Comments: Book Six of In Times of Madness. It will adapt a short story I started back in 2006 or 2007 but never finished, about the backwards chronology of how the apocalypse began.

The Mayor of Crazy Town

Publication Year: Unknown
Top Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Fables
Type: Novel
Price: Unknown
Formats: E-book, Paperback
Status: Planned
Comments: Book Seven of In Times of Madness. It will backtrack a little in the series chronology, maybe to even before Book One, and serve as a throwback to early ‘90s beat-em-up videogames, particularly Final Fight and Streets of Rage.

Other Possible Titles for the Near Future:

The rest of this list is just the name of stories I’ve written or started to write that may eventually become worth publishing if I take the time to complete or expand them for publication. No promises on any of these, though. Likewise, any one of these could jump the line and see the light of day in the next three to five years. You never know!

  • The Rose Garden (started, not finished)
  • Too Many Dudes Out (started, not finished)
  • Paperweight (short story to be expanded)
  • Stopped Short of a Hyperjump (short story to be expanded)
  • That Girl (short story to be expanded)
  • Year of the Pie Dish (short story to be expanded)
  • The Secret Weapon (started, not finished)
  • An Implosion of the Sure Thing (short story to be revised, maybe expanded)
  • Caking Inconvenience (short story to be expanded)
  • Does Your Love Come with a QR Code? (outlined, not started)
  • Entrepreneur: The Beginning (based on my game, to be finished)
  • Creature the Great (started, not finished)
  • The Dark Underbelly of Jesters (started, not finished)
  • The Happy Ending (started, not finished)
  • The Great Zoo Coaster Wheel (started, not finished)

This is a long list but still incomplete. I’ll add more titles as I get closer to writing them.
